Eid Lunch at ICC

The air was filled with excitement and anticipation as the Flacq Disabled Centre, along with other SEN schools, gathered at the Islamic Cultural Centre for a much-awaited Eid Lunch on the 27th of April 2024. After a hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the resumption of this annual event brought immense joy and gratitude to our hearts.

The Islamic Cultural Centre has always been a beacon of community spirit and inclusivity. Their initiative to host the Eid Lunch for SEN schools exemplifies their commitment to fostering unity and spreading happiness. This year’s event was nothing short of magical, filled with warmth, laughter, and a sense of togetherness that we had dearly missed.

As we arrived at the beautifully decorated venue, we were welcomed with open arms and radiant smiles. The atmosphere was vibrant, echoing with the cheerful chatter of children and staff alike. The tables were adorned with an array of delectable dishes, reflecting the rich culinary heritage of Eid celebrations. A highlight of the feast was the delicious briani, a traditional dish that everyone savored with delight. The meal was perfectly capped off with refreshing ice cream, bringing an extra touch of sweetness to the joyous occasion.

Our students, who thrive on such social interactions, were particularly elated. The event provided them with an opportunity to engage with peers from other schools, fostering friendships and building a sense of community. For many, this was a rare chance to experience the joy of a large communal celebration, and their faces beamed with happiness throughout the day.

The dedication of the Islamic Cultural Centre and its volunteers was evident in every detail, from the meticulously planned activities to the warm hospitality extended to all attendees. Their efforts ensured that every child felt included and cherished, making the event a truly inclusive celebration of Eid. Before the end of the event, each child was delighted to receive a toy, adding an extra layer of joy and excitement to the day.

We at the Flacq Disabled Centre extend our deepest gratitude to the Islamic Cultural Centre for their unwavering support and generosity. This event has rekindled a sense of normalcy and joy that had been dampened by the pandemic. It is heartening to see such initiatives that not only celebrate cultural traditions but also promote inclusivity and compassion within our community.

As we look forward to future celebrations, we carry with us the memories of this beautiful day – a day that reminded us of the power of togetherness and the boundless joy that comes from sharing and caring. Thank you, Islamic Cultural Centre, for making this Eid Lunch an unforgettable experience for our students and staff. Your kindness has left an indelible mark on our hearts, and we eagerly await the next opportunity to celebrate with you again.
